How
do I know my files are ready for printing?
If you have checked your files through a pre-flight program
(Pre Flight or Flight Check) your files should be ready for press.
Should
I use the trapping function on my desktop program or should the printer
do it for me?
We recommend trapping be done at our Richardson Electronic
Digital Imaging (REDI). Just send us your file and we will take care of
trapping for you.
Does
it matter what kind of paper I use?
Yes, and Richardson Printing can help you choose the best
paper stock for your project.
When
should I use spot color?
If you have a specially formulated color you will need
a spot color. If you are using a unique PMS or Pantone color, you may
need an additional color for printing. Call your Richardson Printing representative
to learn more.
Should
varnish be wet or dry trapped?
Varnish application depends on the desired printing effect.
Most special effect printing can't be achieved with wet trapping. If you
would like to learn more, call us at 816-421-2100 today.
Do
some colors work better than others with duotones?
Absolutely. Tans, grays, blacks and blues tend to work
best as a second color. Your Richardson Printing representative can advise
you if you need assistance.
Does
unit pricing improve as the quantity increases?
Certainly. Set-up charges are spread over the length of
the run. When set-up costs are spread over a larger quantity your cost
per piece is less. That is why in most cases, it is more economical to
print a large versus small quantity.
