Environmental Practices.
- In 1992, Richardson Printing took the lead among Greater Kansas City area printers in adopting alcohol-free printing processes in the pressroom as well as significantly reducing VOC emissions.
- Richardson Printing always has disposed of waste products through certifiable waste streams. For example, waste ink is used in a fuel blend at a concrete kiln in Dolton, Illinois. Waste press solvents are used as fuel additives, and waste fountain solution and developer effluents, which largely are water, also are sent for treatment. All waste paper is collected and recycled at Batliner, a nearby paper recycling facilitator.
Reporting Practices.
Richardson Printing reports annually to the Air Quality Division to the Kansas City Health Department and to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The Air Quality Division conducts annual inspections as well.
To date, Richardson Printing never has been cited for any noncompliance issue.
